Floras y flore

Since I was very little I was always surrounded by flowers and nature in general. My mom and my grandma know everything about flowers, they love them so much. This is a tradition that dates way back in time. It's part of the Bulgarian culture and customs where people were in inseparable connection with nature.

The original idea for these photos came while I was doing flower fonts. I was looking for flower photos on Pinterest when I found these amazing back background photos where the different flowers were in the center of the composition. Their silhouette was so clean, sharp, and beautiful and then I asked myself ''We have plenty of flowers in the backyard, why I don't take some photos like these''. Instead of the black studio background, I decided to take the photos during the night. In this way, the photos look more organic and dynamic. There is this feeling of mystery that is usually associated with fairy tales, mystical creatures or even fairies.

Other things which inspired me were: the rain because the week I took the photos was pretty rainy, and two words- ''yugen'' (This Japanese word refers to the awareness that the universeis so profound that the emotions we feel when we try to contemplate it are too deep and mysterious to convey) and ''petrichor'' (The earthy smell that follows a rainfall).
